The Rip Curl Mens Omega 1.5mm Flatlock Short Sleeve Wetsuit Jacket is a must-have for any water sports enthusiast. Its 1.5mm thickness offers flexibility and effective moderate insulation, successfully cutting wind chill. However, it may not be suitable for winter surfing in most parts of Australia. Designed as a jacket, this wetsuit provides heat retention without the commitment of a full wetsuit, making it perfect for shoulder seasons. The combination of E3 and E5 neoprene in its construction offers top-tier flexibility and warmth without a hefty price tag. The flatlock seam ensures durability and cost-effectiveness, although it may allow some cold water to enter through the pinholes. With a zipperless design, this wetsuit guarantees ultimate comfort, thanks to its stretchy material. The elastic boardshort loop and mesh skin panels further enhance the overall performance.

Rip Curl Mens Omega 1.5mm FL Short Sleeve Wetsuit Jacket

  • Thickness: 1.5mm - used throughout the suit. 1.5mm is flexy and very effective at moderate insulation and cutting wind chill, but not enough for a winter wetsuit throughout most of Australia.
  • Style: Jackets - or wetty tops, are the natural born enemy to shoulder seasons and windchill, giving you some heat retention without having to commit to a wetsuit, but bear in mind water can enter much easier than a jacket so if core temps are your concern go a spring or more.
  • Rubber: E5 & E3 - a mix of E3 and E5 neoprene, few years ago E5 was the stretchiest neoprene on the market and thanks to Rip Curl's material trickle down you can now revel in once top-tier flexibility and warmth without the price.
  • Seam: Flatlock Seam - I'd bet there'd be enough flatlock stitch laid in the history of wetsuits to cover the distance of here to the moon and back, and for good reason. It's extremely durable, almost 2D and is the most cost effective seam out there. But bear in mind the many pinholes created in the stitching process creates plenty of passages for cold water to enter the suit.
  • Zip: Zipperless - no zip is the best zip because doing so removes the only no-stretch element of a wetsuit and zips can let in water. Zipperless wetsuits are entered via an overlapping shoulder panel and can be a challenge to get in, but if you can get in, you're never going to want to get out (because its comfy, not because you're stuck).
  • Elastic Boardshort Loop
  • Mesh Skin Panels
